How to change MB SD Connect 4 DAS and Xentry language

Mercedes Benz Star diagnostic MB SD Connect Compact 4 is compatible multi languages, including Bulgarian, Danish, Greek,Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Polish, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Czech, German, English, Finish,Hyngarian, Japanese, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Chinese.

MB SD C4 DAS language change:

Step 1: Right click the DAS icon on desktop to open DAS Properties and click Shortcut

Step 2: Replace “-len” in Target column to “-ide”

Step 3: Click “OK” to save setting.

MB SD Connect C4 XENTRY language change:

Step 1: Open XENTRY software on the desktop. Select “System Setting” icon marked red below

Step 2: Select “Setting language” under System setting. Select the language you want on the right program.

Step 3: Click “OK” when the system pops out “Xentry must be restarted for these changes to take effect” message.

How to activate MB SD Connect 4 diagnostic DAS and Xentry

Following displays the step-by-step guide of activating Mercedes Benz MB SD Connect Compact 4 diagnostic system DAS and Xentry software. Same activation procedures goes to Super MB Star and MB Star C3 multiplexer as well. 

Open your Star diagnostic software
Set you com port to Com2 , 115200

 Open the EPC_Net

Login with User : admin passwd: 12345

 Click “Server”

Click “Edit the access authorization ”

 Send us the Lan-ID , We will give you a new startkey, Paste the new startkey

Active xentry 

Open the StarUtilities

Send us you Xentry HW-ID and App-ID

 We will give you the new startkey, Save the new startkey

 Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LicDir

Set the lic_key_2.dat file properties to ‘Read-only’

 Active DAS : 

Open Xentry

Choose 221 model

 Click ‘Diagnostic’ button

Send us the Fingerprint ID

 We will give you the name and key

 Now everything is done!

How to activate MB SD Connect 4 diagnostic EPC and WIS

Here is the instruction on activating Mercedes Benz MB SD Connect C4 diagnostic EPC and WIS software by mbstarshop.

1) Open EWA.net software. Enter users mane: “admin” and password “12345” to login

2) Click Administration>>Server, then select first option “Access authorization” marked box below.

3) Copy “Current MAC address (LAN-ID)”

4) Open EPC-net KEYGEN on the desktop and run EWA-kg

5) Enter LAN-ID copied from 3) and other information, like expiration year, expiration month, expiration day etc. The date has no format limitation, for example 2020.01.01 or any other date

6) Paste the string of EPCnet in StartKey blank and string in WISnet in StartKey blank to EWA.net Access authorization.

7) The system is complete accessing authorization. Click Save to save previous settings.

MB SD Connect C4 diagnostic multiplexer EPC and WIS software have been successfully activated.

How to update MB SD Connect 4 firmware to OS 2.3

The latest Mercedes Benz MB SD Connect Compact 4 diagnostic system firmware version goes to OS2.3 CSD 2.8 with D-LINK WIFI Card. MB SD C4 multiplexer firmware can be updated. Here is the step-by-step instructions. 

Operating system:
Dell D630 format HDD on Dell D630 PC
External HDD needs PC with CPU 2.0GHZ or above, 4GB memory or more.


How to update Star diagnosis MB SD Connect 4 MUX to OS2.3 CSD 2.8

1)　Prepare 6 AA5 batteries, follow the document “How to install MB SD C4 rechargeable battery” to installed battery

Note: Please do use brand new batteries with sufficient electricity; otherwise, you will fail to update the firmware.

Then, select the green cable to connect to your laptop and MB SD Connect Compact 4 diagnostic multiplexer, and use OBD cable to connect to MB SD C4 multiplexer and your vehicle. (If the vehicle cannot be connected, select OBD 12V power instead.)

2. Open the software "2012.09 DAS".
   Go to C:\ program files \ SDconnect Toolkit to check whether there are the three following files as the pic below shows.
   Update_automatic;
   Update_manual;
   Update_Special.
If the files' names are different from the pic shows, please correct the names the same as the pic shows.
 

3. Restart your computer.

4. Start to update the firmware according to how to update MB SD connect 4 firmware.

How to update MB SD Connect Compact 4 Firmware

Here are the step-by-step instructions for updating the kernel software (operating system) on your Star Diagnosis MB SD Connect C4 multiplexer.
The kernel update of the SDconnect is similar to a regular software update via the Star Diagnosis system.

Step 1. Check battery if needed (only if related message is shown in the display)
  • When working on the vehicle or using an external power supply, the message "Batteries cannot be charged" may sometimes appear on the SDconnect display.
Note: The batteries had better be brand new to make sure of sufficient electricity.

Closing the Xentry Diagnostics/ Xentry DAS diagnostics application
  • When accessing a vehicle in Xentry Diagnostics or Xentry DAS, the following message appears
 
Exit the diagnostic application Xentry Diagnostics or Xentry DAS correctly to go on.


Step 2. Connecting the SDconnect to the Star Diagnosis system with the green cable
  • The SDconnect will be automatically selected and appear in the deskband on the Star Diagnosis system:


Step 3. SDnetControl
  Start SDnetControl by clicking the deskband
  • Go to the "Connections" tab.
  • Check whether automatic selection via the cable connection is active
 

  • Go to the "Configuration" tab, and confirm the warning with "Yes"
 


Step 4. MB SD C4 Software update

Go to the "MUX" tab in SDnetControl.

  •Click on the "Software update" button.
 

The "SDconnect Toolkit Administration" program will start.

Go to the "Software update" tab in the SDconnect Toolkit.

  • Your SDconnect is already selected on the left-hand side.
  • Select the "Software update" packet under "Files for software update".
  • Click "Start" to start the process.



The update process will start. This takes approx. 4 minutes.

Step 5. Completing the installation
Confirm the successful completion of the update.
  • After a successful update, a message indicating the successful update completion appears.
  • Confirm the message by clicking "OK".
 

Update not successful
  • If the update was not successful, the message "The software update was aborted. Please repeat the update process" will appear.
  • Confirm this message by clicking "OK". Check the SDconnect batteries if necessary and repeat the update process.
 

Go to the "Information" tab in SDconnect Toolkit
  • Select your SDconnect on the left-hand side.
  • Check the information under "Software versions" at the right:
The versions of the Linux OS and the CommandServer must be at least 2:0:xxxxxx.
 
The kernel update of the MB SD connect c4 is complete. The green LAN cable can be removed.

How to install MB SD Connect 4 battery and wifi card

If you've got the brand new Mercedes Benz MB SD Connect Compact 4 Diagnostic System, the first step you have to do is to install rechargeable batteries. Here is the detailed instruction on installing MB SD C4 batteries.

1. Please prepare the following tools:
 
①--- SD connect multiplexer which need to input the batteries。
②--- 6 units Ni-MH Rechargeable batteries，Size：AA， Voltage：1.2V， Capacity：above 1700mA。
③--- 1 unit 108M WIFI Card。
④--- Plum screwdriver，Specification：T-20

2.Take out the rubber:
2.1 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to take out the screws as below.
 

2.2 Take out the rubber as below.
 
①--- Batteries Space.
②--- WIFI Card Space.
③--- SD Card Space.

3. Insert the Rechargeable batteries.
3.1 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to take out the screws of Batteries Space fixation as below.
 

3.2 Take out the fixation of Batteries Space. Pay attention to the Battery polarity marked in the Batteries Space.
 

3.3 Insert the batteries. Note the Battery polarity.
 

3.4 Button on the Fixation of Batteries Space after inputting the Rechargeable batteries.
 

3.5 Use the T20 Plum screwdriver to fix the screws of Batteries Space fixation as below. Inserting the batteries is finished.
 


4. Installing WIFI Card.
4.1 Inserting the WIFI Card into the WIFI Card Space. Please make the correct direction.
 
4.2 Push it to make it totally connected.
 
4.3 Cover the rubber and fix the screws to finish all the work.
