Xentry 2018.03 Test Benz W204 on Windows 7

After days of frustration, I manage to make the 03/2018 xentry simulation to work on windows 7.
Is the full version of 99GB, but in the MB star C3 is not supported, only SD Connect C4.
I have a delicated laptop for diagnostic. 
I have a vm also, but i just wanted to see xentry running on w7.

now xentry is working full on my wife car w204, c280. 
Lost a lot of my time installing xentry 03 2018 (this can be run on any laptop no more dedicated laptop) ... but is fully working also bought a new toy sd connect c4 
DAS is working on my slk + dev mod
Xentry working also on my w204.
Paid for an online session on MB servers and I check my car software on my slk I didn't touch the engine ECU as I have a remap and the transmission is up to date, no new software. 
On w204 the transmission is up to date also but I update the ecu engine, the first time when I did this and it worked.  
So now I am able to update software on different ecu's.

Manage to make HHT run on windows 7 64x, now I need to find an slk r170 to see it is really working.

Just did an extended session on my slk and all is ok with the new version, no changes in das but in xentry they did a lot, will test more on my w204.

MB SD Connect C4 Device not in use and communication error

These are Mercedes MB Star diagnosis DAS and SD connect c4 communication solutions by mbstartool technicians:

DAS Fault (1.2)-2.503.9901 with the error “Communication failed”

MB SD connect c4 main unit displays “Device not in use”

This issue usually can be solved as follows:

– re-set IP address:

1) Connect MB SD Connect C4 with LAN cable
2) Open Virtual Network Editor and use vmnet0 (Auto-Bridging )
3) Install (2 ) Local Area Connection
4) Set IP:

Local Area Connection ( 1 ) IP 172.29.127.XXX this for IP MUX
Local Area Connection ( 1 ) IP 192.168.1.XXX this for IP network or IP Network you use

5) Make configuration for SD connect wireless,

(SD C4 usually solve the issue after IP re-match)

– setup the PC date

The date must be the same as the software version

E.g. Your DAS is 2016.09 version, then your PC date should be 2016/09

– replace the Config file in c:\program\mecredes-benz\config

(this is for MB STAR C3 users)

V2015.9 up MB Star C3 Mux Initialization Failed Solution

Here is the mbstartool.com engineer solution to MB Star C3 V2015.9 up DAS Xentry multiplexer initialization failed problem.

Error message:

Initialization of diagnosis multiplexer failed.

Possible causes:

The link between the diagnosis multiplexer and the diagnostic socket is interrupted.

The link between the diagnostic multiplexer and the diagnostic unit is interrupted.

The voltage supply at the diagnostic socket (circuit 30 and (or) circuit 31) is faulty.

Note:

When using SDconnect,check the connection status using the Toolkit.

Solution:

1. First check if you use the correct software for Star C3 not SD Connect C4, you do not modify software by yourself and it passes self-test.

If all these are okay, replace the Config file in c:\program\mecredes-benz\config

2.If still not work, check device and vehicle communication

DAS not recognize all ECUs through 38 pin cable solution

DAS is working perfect on any car with the 16 pin cable and Xentry also is working perfect. But when DAS is connecting with the w210 car through 38 pin cable, DAS only recognize 3 ECUs then nothing, i changed the 38pin cable gives me the same result.


i used windows7 ultimate x64bit with Xentry openshell 5.2016, all patches and fixes are applied.



I changed the old cable with another HQ 38 pin cable, but the same problem!

tried on different car, same problem,
same car tested on old system (MUX MB Star C3 + Windows XP) works perfect



HHT-win system, simply a message said:" HHT-WIN is not available on this system"
but as per the photo only few ECUs are detected, then nothing....





User suggestion on this topic:

Depends on which W210 it is facelift or pre-facelift with FBS3 or older system? For facelift version have to working shortest through DAS. Pre-facelift version/older model is automatically switched to HHTWin. For example as I remember W168 model year 2003-2004? /I forgot/ is full short test in DAS and then if you click on some ecus then is switched to HHTWin. Facelift W210 model have to working full short test in DAS. This is not HHTWin problem. Maybe your hardware have problem with connection to older cars.



Professional advice from mbstartool engineer:

It’s normal. DAS / HHTWin does recognize some ECUs only through 38 pin cable. And there is not ECUs in old cars as many as new cars.

MB Star C3 fail work on W204 Customer Solution

MB Star C3 Star diagnostic system failed to work on Mercedes W204? Here is the customer solution. You are at your risk!

Problem:

I have DELL D630 with Xentry 09/2015 and MB Star C3 multiplexer. I have connected many cars (W202, W203, W210, W211, W245, etc) and there is no problem with connection – everything is working like a charm. Some days ago, I have bought W204 C280 from 2007. After I choose model, engine and transmission, and I go to diagnostic I see this:

“The diagnosis application is being started…”

and few seconds later this:

“Initialization of the multiplexer has failed”

My Mux is not compatible with W204? I searched few hours without success.

Customer solution:
W204 and X204 is the last Mercedes models which working without some special modifications.
You can try:

First try in toolkit.ini delete line skipcomports=all and set line usecomport=2 then you will see in SDconnect toolkit PartD on display after mux connection.

First save your original file for sure.

Try look into C:\Userdata\Config\Xentry\driver – slave.ini and set there com port which you have used for PartD.

Report:

There was no change because I didn’t restarted system. After restart work perfect.

Your solution work perfectly! Probem solved. Everything is working like a charm.

Super MB Star C3 Platinum Edition software update error

Here is the working solution to Super MB STAR C3 Platinum Edition software "Mysql database connection exception occurs" error.

Q: I bought the Super MB Star C3 Platinum Edition hard drive. When I do ESP special function in DAS, software prompt me to run an upgrade. But when i update the super mb star software on official website, it gave me error "Mysql database connection exception occurs".

A: If updater ask to enter password, enter any key to login.
Change network service, do not select Europe, select other region.

Make sure network connection is good enough.

How to repair bad RS232 to RS485 cable for MB Star C3

Finally, had the RS232 to RS485 converter cable wiring diagram so I managed to resolder the wire contacts that connect to the MB STAR C3 multiplexer side.

The cable I bought from ebay had crappy solder points that only worked for a few times before breaking off, and disconnected from the connector/plug.

I can line up the wires with connector and reference it with the ABCDEFGHI..etc on the multiplexer if I knew which color connect to which pin on the cable connector. Unfortunately there are too many wires loose in there for me use trail and error.

RS485 cable pinout:

EIA-485 cable usually made with twisted pair (like EIA-422) and may span up to 1200 metres. The recommended arrangement of the wires is as a connected series of point-to-point nodes, a line or bus. Ideally, the two ends of the cable will have a termination resistor connected across the two wires and two powered resistors to bias the lines apart when the lines are not being driven. The value of each termination resistor should be equal to the cable impedance (typically, 120 ohms for twisted pairs).

The pinout, simply put, is that colors connect to the following pins:
Purple - Pin 8
Yellow - Pin 5
Orange - Pin 9 (or Pin 4), on one schematic I looked at they are bridged.

Looking at that schematic (I'll link to it below), purple connects to "G" (which is not the G on the cable because the letters are flipped in the key on the schematic!). It looks like Yellow connects to "R".

With the help online,  I've fix the cable.
I've tested my cable and it works now. Great!

A Mercedes owner simply made the procedure of transfer data from the old unit to the new unit, using MB Star diagnosis DAS development diagnostic software.

The extra thing have to do is:
Look at the old control unit version as shown in the picture:

Then after installing new unit and transfer all data to it, next, go to:
Development Data ==> Control unit adaptation ==> Variant coding ==> F3

Then we chose from the list the same number we got in image below

This must work as reported from many of my friends but i always do the online procedure.

Finally I solved this problem.

It was really a complex combination of faulty hardware and software. I had a problem with that annoying c32s.dll file. I replaced it with the original 01/2011 one plus I used CAL 872 fix version 2 for DAS 07/2011 onwards. Only the c32s.dll solved the problem.
