MB Star Diagnostic SD Connect C4 lower Benz W211 air suspension

This is the star diagnostic tutorial on lower Mercedes Benz cars, with MB SD Connect c4 diagnostic tool. Here takes W211 as an example.

ATTENTION:
Here is where people have problems, they just go to actuations and then lower it, IT WILL NOT STAY LOWERED this way, you have to go to initial startup

Then Initial startup with manual settings input for new control unit/ Level Calibration

Then F2

Here you will see a screen that shows the voltages which correspond to the height of the vehicle. they must be within the given ranges in the left hand column. use the + and – buttons to lower the car(In the screenshot I am in the car with a friend in the back seat, so that is why it is at 3.27, it should not exceed 3) Then hit F2

Enter in these inclination angles and if the car is within the voltages supplied in the page before, the car will accept the new lowered setting, if not it will reject it.

Really helpful guide to buy a MB Star diagnostic system

I can help you out with getting a MB Star Diagnostic system.

I have a lot of experience with setting up these systems.
The C4 (MB SD Connect C4) units are nice because of the LAN cable connecting the unit to the laptop, as with high quality electronics there seem to be no problems with these units.

I do prefer the MB Star C3 units just because they seem to hold up much better than the MB SD C4's. The only downside to the C3 multiplexer is the requirement of a serial port on the laptop and the big bulky cable that goes from the head to the laptop.

Software:
Many of the chinese setups you see that sell you a hard drive and "will work with any laptop" are just VM ware installations. Basically a virtual windows setup.. There is no reason to go this route, they are prone to crashing and much slower than native (software installed strait into windows) setups.

There are many different versions of the MB Star diagnostic software and each have their up's and downs. You can get the 2014 software that will work with cars just being pulled off the ships. But most people wont be working on the latest cars so I always suggest older versions from 2010 to 2012. As the software keeps being updated by Mercedes they remove more and more features limiting what you can do as far as basic programming goes as well as other small things here and there..

You can be able to SCN code control units with one of these setups. Mercedes has everything setup to connect to their internet databases for verification to do SCN coding and requires a license you need to purchase.. It is technically possible to do, but for most independent shops its not worth the cost. Basic coding/programming of control units can be done with these systems, but like I said you cant do everything..

Of course these systems do all your basic reading erasing of codes, they have guided troubleshooting in them as well. You can actuate components and read data outputs.


Im sure you get the picture by now.. These can be setup on pretty much any laptop you want with some limitations. SSD drives or just normal hard drives.. makes no difference when you are doing everything from scratch like I do..

How to use MB STAR diagnostic EPC.net software

Mercedes Benz MB Star diagnostic system (MB SD Connect C4, Super MB Star C3, mb star C3 multiplexer) comes with multi software programs, DAS, XENTRY, StarFinder, WIS, EPC, SDmedia etc.  Here we going to explain what is EPC.net program and and how to use PEC.

What is Mercedes Benz EPC software?

EPC.net is the abbreviation of Electronic Parts Catalog. EPC software provides details of all parts and components of all Mercedes Benz and Smart vehicles.

EPC supports you when determining your parts volume up to the adoption of the shopping lists in your commercial systems for preparing cost estimates and invoices. EPC contains the passenger car and commercial vehicle parts literature from about 1962 and vehicle data cards from approximately 1978.

How to use MB STAR diagnostic EPC.net software?

First you need to activate the Benz STAR EPC software follow the video instruction
Login EPC program with admin and password
Open EPC software and wait the EPC initializing

Select your vehicle type: Turck/Bus, Van, Car etc

Select detail vehicle model description:

Select your vehicle model specific parts, like engine, wheel, steering etc

You will be able to view the specific diagram of your vehicle parts on the right and view status/information on the left

All functions of EPC are clearly arranged together in a main window.
The main window is divided into the following areas:

• Picture

Will MB Star external HDD works on Lenovo T410 Notebook

One of the MB SD Connect C4 diagnostic system user consulted mbstarshop technician can he install the external hard disk on Lenovo T410 Notebook.

Mbstartool technician suggestion:

Yes. MB star diagnostic external HDD will run on Lenovo T410 Notebook. But we can not make sure it performs diagnosis or programming function as good as Dell D630 laptop. If you using MB Star C3, you need a COM port laptop or transfer connector.

Mercedes MB Star C3 diagnostic Xentry 3.17 error (fixed)

Problem:

When open the MB Star C3 diagnostic system Xentry software, the system pops up Xentry 3.17 error.

Here is the solution by obd365.com technician:

Delete the lic_key_2.dat and lic_key_2x4712 files under LicDir folder.
 Follow the instruction to re-activate the star diagnostic DAS and Xentry software.
How to activate MB Star diagnostic DAS/Xentry

If still not working after activation, you need to send the MB star C3 multiplexer hardware back to repair.

Change Mercedes Benz time in cluster with MB SD C4 diagnosis

Many Star diagnostic system users know that it is able to correct the time in instrument cluster, but do not know where to go. Obd365.com here introduces how to set the Mercedes Benz analog clock and key dependency with MB Star diagnostic software, take MB SD Connect C4 multiplexer for an example.

Equipment:
Mercedes Benz MB SD Connect C4 Star diagnostic system SDS
Dell D630 laptop running Win XP home

Instructions in Star DAS Developer Mode:

1. Install and activate the software. Software is pre-installed and activated if you get the MB SD Connect 4 and Dell D630 laptop bundle package.
2. Connect MB SD C4 system with vehicle via OBD port
3. Run DAS software
4. Come to the main Control units group menu->F3
5. Select Information and communication option->F3
6. Select IC Instrument Cluster->F3
7. Select Diagnosis to plant specifications->F3

13. Reboot the cluster. The whole procedure is complete. Disconnect the MB SD C4 diagnostic tool.

Smart 450 variant coding with MB SD Connect C4 DAS

I wanted to change some things in variant coding for my smart 450 with Mercedes MB SD Connect C4 star diagnostic system. But the DAS reported the 8.561.6067 error. Tried some methods and then solved in the end. Just post for sharing.
Ps. Tool i used: MB SD C4 DAS 07/2012 with dell d630 laptop
SOLVED!
Note: Unlock the ECU first!
1. Go to the developer menu in SAM (last item)

4. Scroll all the way down and choose SG_Entriegelung (=control unit unlock)

After this the variant coding can be saved without the error, I can save every setting i want.

Remove Benz truck Adblue with MB SD C4 Diagnostic

Here is the instruction on how to remove/disable Mercedes Benz truck adblue with  MB SD Connect C4 star diagnostic DAS/Xentry software. 

Equipment:
Mercedes Benz MB Star Diagnostic multiplexer with DAS/Xentry software (MB SD Connect 4 is the better choice for Benz truck diagnosis & programming)


1) Run Xentry software. Press F2 to accept windows prompts until the DAS is well communicated

2) Select vehicle Category as TRUCK in vehicle menu. Press F3

3) Select truck model, here take “AXOR” as an example

4) Select detail vehicle model accept Simulation prompt

5) Select control module for simulation. First click the INS control module and then select FR from the list

6) Choose the appropriate MB object number and diagnostic version. Click F2 to back to the previous program.

7) Select MR and press F2

9) Select FR drive control>>Control unit adaptations>>Parameterization

10) Select Vehicle parameter from parameter list




11) Select Nox Torque limit option, you will check there is no value

12) Select Nox Torque limit value from the left drop-down list, select value as 100%. Press F3

13) Wait the system display Random number, ID code and Calculation type information

14) Read the encrypted random number from FDOK and enter it in Star Diagnosis as in the following example: 123-120-004-232. Check the entry is correct. Press F3

15) You will able to view the current Nox Torque limit value is 100%

16) Click OK to save settings. Back to vehicle parameter menu and project the function you want.
